At the factory – how underwear is made
A lot of folks find it really fascinating that we put the name of our factory right on each and every garment. If you have a pair of PACT underwear, take a closer look at the care and contents label on the inside – you’ll notice that it says “Responsibly Made in Turkey by Egedeniz Tekstil”. Egedeniz is our manufacturing partner. We’re proud of them because they go to great lengths to make sure they operate the most environmentally sustainable and socially responsible supply chain that they can. And it ain’t easy… I know… I’ve been there… lots.

It's also interesting that many people don't realize how clothing is made - it's a manual labor process! No robots in garment production. Even in 2009, garment production means workers on sewing machines. Fabric production is now automated and is awe-inspiring (and that's another blog post) but for now I thought I'd offer you a glimpse of the production floor to see how PACT underwear is made. Take a look at these videos that I shot on my Flip camera... complete with a Turkish music soundtrack. Sorry it's a little shaky... I guess cinematography isn't in my future. :)

We've already received some interesting emails including requests for larger sizes (they are coming soon!) to questions about our manufacturing processes to comments on our models (FYI - one of models is getting her MD, one his getting his PhD in engineering, one owns an internet start-up, and another works at a large foundation). We look forward to addressing all the questions about PACT on this blog in the days ahead.
A big thanks to everyone who has already joined the PACT family by making an order. You’ll receive your underwear in a few days and we look forward to your feedback. We want to spread the word of PACT far and wide so let us know if you can help. PACT Launches August 17th
Over two and a half years since the idea of PACT began, we are finally launching on August 17th. >>
Back then, PACT started as an idea--an idea to explore how business, consumer products, customers, environmental and social justice organizations, artists, and designers could all be woven together to create something entirely new. Most ideas never get past their cerebral phase. Well, it's taken a while, but we have put together something that is far beyond what we ever imagined and we're really proud of what we've created. We know this is the beginning, we know that there are a lot of things that are going to change, and we know that there is still much to come.

1000 frames per PACT
PACT just wrapped its first video shoot this weekend–stay tuned in September!
A big thank you to the whole crew at TerriTimely for a great shoot. Despite a melting NuBra, a near faint from our trooper Brittany, a 20+ hour day, and some explosion mishaps, this is going to be an amazing piece. This shot running through the forest is a preview of what’s to come. Enjoy!
